Rooted Update 0.0.2.319 • Building Strong Foundations for the Future

At Headlight Studio, we believe that crafting immersive survival experiences starts with a solid technical foundation. With the latest update of Rooted (version 0.0.2.319), we are reinforcing that foundation by improving performance, stability, and scalability for everything that is coming next.

This update represents a new development phase for Rooted, now back in full-time production following the successful launch of Backrooms: Extractions. Our team’s main focus has been deep optimization work across the engine. CPU performance has seen major improvements, leading to smoother framerates and faster world streaming, while GPU optimization remains an ongoing priority as we move forward.

Beyond performance, this update introduces several key technical milestones:

  • Integration of Mutable for our character system, allowing highly dynamic customization and seamless visual updates in-game.
  • A progressive migration from Blueprint to C++, as we consolidate prototype systems into robust, production-ready code for greater reliability and flexibility.
  • Broader use of the Gameplay Ability System (GAS), which now handles more of our character abilities, status effects, and AI logic, paving the way for deeper interactions and scalable multiplayer systems.

These evolutions are not just internal improvements; they lay the groundwork for what Rooted is becoming, a simulation-driven survival experience built on efficiency, modularity, and player immersion.

We would like to sincerely thank our community for their continued trust and feedback. Every comment helps us refine our approach and ensures that Rooted continues to grow into the ambitious, player-driven experience we envision.
